Thanks to its privileged location, Cal Santu takes advantage of the rich landscape and nature of the region of Pla de l’Estany.
On the one hand, the house is in direct contact with a mountain area which encloses the highest peaks and the deepest valleys. This zone borders on the towns of Camós, Palol de Revardit, Sant Miquel de Campmajor and Porqueres. In the same area, some remarkable points are the meadows of Sant Nicolau, the path to the mountain of Rocacorba, the forest of Can Ginebreda, where the sculptor Xicu Cabanyes has brought most of his work, and, finally, the spot of Les Estunes, marked by the magnificent cracks formed by calcareous rocks.
In the lowest point of the region, governed by crop plains and small mountains, one should not forget the villages of Fontcoberta, Crespià, Esponellà and Vilademuls.
The Fluvià river, crossing the village of Esponellà, and the waterfall of Espolla may also be interesting.
On the other hand, it should be said that the lake of Banyoles and the little ponds surrounding it form the most remarkable system of lakes all over the country.
Only 300 m from the house it is possible to visit the farms of the property, where cows and sheep can be seen grazing; for those interested, please just ask the owners.
Another interesting visit nearby is the impressive waterfall of Sant Dalmau, especially recommended in spring. This waterfall forms when water coming from the calcareous soil passes through a clay soil.
